    Individual Development Plan--Fall 2019 cohort

Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM

Beginning this Fall, the Graduate College is sponsoring a new cohort of doctoral students who are interested in creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP). As you may know, IDPs are dynamic tools that have been effectively used by industry and federal funding agencies for some time.  Here at OSU, the IDP will help doctoral students be intentional in their discipline-specific and professional development training, and facilitate discussions with advisors/mentors as students ready themselves for their desired profession. The four phases of the IDP program will include:

    1. Self-Assessment of interests, skills and values:  Utilize online tools to help evaluate these.

    2. Career Exploration:  Now that you have an idea of your interests, skills and values, explore what careers align with these, and what might your skill gaps be.

    3. Develop a Plan:  Using SMART goals, identify short and long term goals, consult with your advisor and other mentors.

    4. Implement Your IDP:  Now set out to achieve the goals you have laid out

The Graduate College is seeking doctoral students interested in becoming part of the Fall 2019 cohort. Students will receive guidance in developing their IDP and have access to online materials and programming to assist. Advisor support will be requested, as they will be a key partner in reviewing your IDP. Ideally these students will be in the first three semesters of their doctoral program, but a modified version of the IDP program will be available for more advanced students.

To sign up for the 2019 Fall cohort, fill out the form below.

A kickoff meeting will be held on September 5 where you'll learn more details about the program.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
