Images (of cells, blots, etc.) are a key way of presenting data in the biomedical sciences; however, images can easily be manipulated to give a misleading impression of experimental results. In this presentation, students will learn accepted guidelines for image processing, see real-world examples of unethical image manipulation, and examine potential consequences arising from this type of scientific misconduct. After attending this talk, students will be able to outline which types of image manipulation are acceptable (or unacceptable), and to correctly present image-based data.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
